The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!
Fog dominated the December 30, 2006, auto tour, however pleasant images in the fog made the day wonderful. One could only wish for a horse and carriage heading down the foggy roads, but that was not to be, leaving the image to the imagination. The birds were not as easily spotted but the ones seen were nice. AND there were Nutria EVERYWHERE !!! These images were shot with a simple point-and-shoot camera. ... Enjoy.
This trip includes ...
American Coot ... Canada Geese ... Great Blue Heron ... Red-tailed Hawk ... Tundra Swans ... Nutria ... a Beaver Tree ... and lots of foggy views ...
