The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!
Sunday December 27, 2009 was the Audubon's Christmas Bird Count ... weather was overcast with heavy cloud, gray, and cold ... I participated in the "River S" count along the Auto Tour, where over 50 species were noted. Not much time for photography ... but then the weather wasn't good for photos anyways ... Canon Rebel T1i with 300zoom.
This trip includes ...
Northern Shrike ... Sandhill Crane ... "Dark Morph" Red-tailed Hawk ... Brown Creeper ... Savannah Sparrow ...
