The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!
The White-tailed Kite and the Herring Gull are firsts for me. Birds 97 and 98 photographed at the Refuge for the year.

For a long time the juvenile Bald Eagle perched high looking across Rest Lake. The adult flew in and chased him off before perching himself. These three images, while pushing the range of my camera equipment, show differences between the young eagle (4th year ???) and the adult.
