"Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge" "Trip Log ... October 5, 2007"

The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!! Spent all day at the Refuge ... cloudy, overcast, spotty sun, drizzle, with clearing near sunset. Ducks are back and starting to move within range of my cameras ... great views of the evening sun on the Sandhill Cranes - just wish they'd been a little closer to the camera ... a nice "raptor" day with Red-tail and Cooper's Hawks, Peregrine Falcon, Merlin, and Kestral !!!
