The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!

Another morning trip to check on shorebirds at Rest Lake ... nice breezy sunny day, temperatures heading to the mid-90s.

This trip includes:   American Coot ... Belted Kingfisher ... Chipping Sparrow ... Green Heron (with lunch) ... Northern Harrier ... Osprey ... Pied-billed Grebe with Mallard ... Red-tailed Hawk ... Ring-necked Duck ... Savannah Sparrow ... Wood Duck ... On Rest Lake:  American Pipit ... Baird's Sandpiper ... Killdeer ... Pectoral Sandpiper ... Semipalmated Plover ... Coyote ...
