The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!
Two trips to the Refuge today ... very quiet birding ... first mid-morning trip was to walk the Kiwa Trail ... only carried the Canon Rebel t2i with 200mm lens ... 2nd trip was a hurried trip near dusk as there had been a Snowy Egret reported on Rest Lake ... the Snowy Egret is considered an "accidental" visitor to the Refuge ... images were shot at 8:00 p.m. after the sun had set with the Canon 7d, 400mm ... a new Refuge bird for me.
