"Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge" "Trip Log ... February 18, 2008"

The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!! The day was cold and crisp and sunny ... highlights included a flock of gulls 40 or 50 strong circling the Refuge ... the flock included Ring-billed Gulls and Mew Gulls ... the Mew Gull was Ridgefield bird #105 for me ... another highlight was the American Kestrels testing out the nesting box ...
